Job Summary

Provides services to patients who have impairments, developmental disabilities, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes under the direction of an Occupational Therapist. Actively collaborates with the health care/educational team to meet patient care, outcomes and system improvement objectives.

Vanderbilt Home Care Services is hiring a compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to support patients in their homes throughout Rutherford County, Tennessee. The team has helped patients regain independence for more than forty years. Position Details
  • Schedule:

    Part Time 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Territory:
    Rutherford County, Tennessee
  • Setting:
    Home Health provides one-on-one care in the community
Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on occupational therapy treatment under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
  • Support patients with self-care, mobility and daily living skills
  • Deliver care plans and document patient progress
  • Communicate effectively with therapists, nurses, and the care team
  • Promote patient safety and independence in the home environment
Qualifications
  • Active Tennessee Occupational Therapy Assistant license
  • Home health, acute care, or rehab experience preferred
  • Strong communication and time management

Technical Capabilities
  • Rehab PTA/COTA Patient Documentation (Novice):
    Demonstrates proficiency in communicating functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, and disease processes, tailored to audience understanding.
  • Treatment Implementation (Novice):
    Provides treatment per physician prescription and plan of care; may supervise assistants and students; selects and follows correct protocol and evidence-based treatments; contains at least one year of clinical experience.
  • Rehabilitation Patient Education (Novice):
    Communicates functional impact of assessment findings and plans for discharge; adapts communication to audience; participates in educational programs and may train students per contractual agreements with VUMC.
