Organization: VUH NT8 MICU/PCU Cohort 3

  • Job Summary: Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Department/Unit

Summary:

  • The environment in this new unit will be upbeat and challenging. It will embrace strong team collaboration, with nurses and providers participating in rounding.

  • The patient population on this unit in our new tower expansion at Vanderbilt University Hospital will be adult patients 18 years and older treated for Acute Respiratory Failure, ARDS, Multisystem Organ System Failure, Sepsis, Drug Overdoses, Gastrointestinal Bleeds, Diabetic Keto acidosis, Hypertensive Crisis, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, and Liver Failure/Cirrhosis.

  • Opportunities include opening a brand-new unit with a multidisciplinary team and progressive care beds.

Shift:

  • Full-Time Night Shift – 6:45 pm – 7:15 am (three 12-hour shifts/week)

  • Shifts rotate throughout the week

  • Note:

    Set schedules are not available. Schedules are determined by unit clinical staffing needs.

  • All Employees (Night shift & PRN included) are required to attend hospital orientation during regular daytime hours during the first week of employment.

Care Partner Position Qualifications
:

  • Required:

    High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)

  • AND one of the following:

  • Current enrollment in a professional nursing RN program with successful completion of the first semester (including nursing fundamentals clinical), or

  • Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program within the past year (certificate of completion required), or

  • Minimum of one year of recent experience (within the past two years) as a care partner, nursing assistant, or patient care technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of acute care experience in a hospital setting

  • Previous administrative experience in a medical setting

  • Flexible availability

  • Professionalism and reliability

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • High emotional intelligence

  • Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment, and unit environmental standards.
