Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure-Track Faculty Position
Vanderbilt Transplant Center, Department of Surgery
Vanderbilt University Medical Center

The Vanderbilt Transplant Center, within the Department of Surgery, is recruiting a tenure‑track faculty member on the Investigator Track at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a full‑time (1.0 FTE), 12‑month position at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant is expected to develop an independent research program and apply for extramural grants. The research area should focus on bioethics and health services research within the field of organ transplantation and organ donation. Empirical research interest in ethical issues is preferred. No formal teaching is expected.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD or DSc (or equivalent) and a record of scholarship in bioethics, skills in collaborating across disciplines, and a strong commitment to team‑based research. The position requires collaboration with the Director of Transplant Outcomes Research with a particular emphasis on ethics to help build the research portfolio in the Vanderbilt Center for Transplant Science and the Center for Biomedical Ethics and Society.

The applicant will be expected to establish or continue an independently funded research program (R01 or equivalent). Tenure and additional leadership opportunities and resources will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
