The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for proper decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and storage of instrumentation for surgery and outside departments.

• Prepare instruments and supplies through cleaning, packing, sterilizing, and storing procedures
• Understand sterilization principles and operate sterilization equipment
• Assemble all instruments, trays, and drill drays for operating rooms according to policies and procedures
• Perform equipment distribution and routing cleaning and maintenance
• Perform crash cart restocking/exchange
• Follow Standard Precautions using proper personal protective equipment

• Cert Sterile Proc/Distrib Tech, or Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT), or Certified Surgical Technician (CST) preferred
