POSITION TITLE: Direct Support Professional
STATUS: Part Time, Hourly
PROGRAM: Developmental Disabilities Services
REPORTS TO: Home Manager
INTRODUCTIONVolunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization serving four states. Our mission is to create positive change in people’s lives and strengthen communities. We provide housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors. We also offer care and support for people with developmental disabilities, promote restorative justice, and provide free HIV testing and education.

This position provides direct care, training, and assistance to individuals in daily living, self-care, recreation, skill development, and work readiness. You will also help protect and uphold the rights of the people you support.
- High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent skills and experience)
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
- Ensure the comfort and safety of individuals served, meeting their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs.
- Interact in a supportive and therapeutic way, using effective methods to encourage positive behavior.
- Provide transportation and assist individuals in participating in community and social activities.
- Help with general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry.
- Keep the home clean and well-maintained through regular cleaning tasks.
- Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
