There is no pay associated with this position. This position serves as Without Compensation Research Health Technician within the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The VA Research Program strives to promote Veteran-centered care to improve patient experiences and outcomes across VA healthcare and community settings, and to advance value-driven care by providing Veterans the highest quality care at the lowest financial burden.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – March 18 – 2026.
Experience:
You must possess general experience that demonstrates attention to detail, great organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, works well with a team and independently, and is motivated to be involved in research activities.
Note:
Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that requires the application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
Successful completion of a full 4‑year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree – with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
Physical Requirements:
The work is essentially sedentary and is usually accomplished with routine computer equipment and office furniture. Travel may be required to other local offices, VHA facilities, or study sites to participate in site meetings or conferences, conduct data gathering or validation for special projects, or attend professional conferences or meetings. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, residences, or commercial vehicles.
The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Duties- Assist with multiple research projects and provide administrative support to research personnel.
- Support the conduct and coordination of research studies, educational activities, and clinical demonstration projects.
- Assist with human subject research, including data collection and tracking using spreadsheet and database software.
- Screen and assess potential participants for eligibility – review medical charts – and consult with eligible participants regarding study requirements.
