Position Title: Field Dispatch Technician

Location: Nashville or Memphis, TN / Greenwich, New Haven, Stamford, or Hartford, CT

Clearance Requirements: None

Position Status: Contract

Pay Rate: 25/hr on W2 - 28/hr on W2

Base pay range

$25.00/hr - $28.00/hr

We are seeking an experienced Field Dispatch Technician to provide on-site technical support, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance across multiple customer locations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who excels in problem‑solving, customer communication, and independently managing field assignments.

You will support day‑to‑day service operations, perform structured cabling work, install and configure network hardware, and ensure optimal performance across data, voice, and wireless systems. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of data communications, cabling infrastructure, and basic networking technologies, along with the ability to work safely and efficiently in communication closets, data centers, and client environments.

This role works closely with regional operations leadership, project managers, and technical teams to deliver high‑quality service, meet SLAs, and maintain exceptional customer satisfaction.

Technical Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in data communications
    , field service, or network/cabling support
  • Working knowledge of Cisco phones, routers, and switches
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN networking
    , IP phones, and network terminology
  • Proficiency with cable testers, fiber testers
    , and basic technician tools
  • Experience working in communications closets
    , data centers, and structured cabling environments
  • Strong knowledge of Category 3–6 and fiber optic cabling
    , patching processes, and cross‑connects (66/110 blocks)
  • Ability to install, configure, and test network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Experience performing MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) and hardware break/fix support
  • Ability to safely lift and transport equipment, including a 6‑ft ladder
  • Ability to use a smartphone
    , company email, and ticketing systems
  • Basic proficiency with Office 365
    , email, and laptop usage
Soft Skills
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities
  • Able to clearly explain technical issues to non‑technical users
  • Capable of interpreting customer concerns and identifying effective solutions
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently in the field
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform daily field assignments including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of network and cabling systems
  • Install, terminate, and test low‑voltage cabling
    , fiber optics, and communication systems
  • Measure, pull, and route wiring through conduits and structured pathways
  • Install/swap network devices (phones, switches, computers, routers) and perform patching
  • Support network performance troubleshooting
    , break/fix, and closet cleanup
  • Configure and test network equipment in data centers and telecom closets
  • Support Wi‑Fi systems
    , including installation, maintenance, and antenna setup
  • Complete onsite testing including voice, data, call‑through, and circuit testing
  • Document work performed in ticketing and reporting systems (time, materials, SLAs)
  • Respond to emergency or after‑hours support requests as needed
  • Attend required training, meetings, and workshops
  • Coordinate with North American Commercial Services teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Maintain tool and equipment inventory and request supplies when needed
  • Meet performance targets and deliver exceptional service to end users
