Category Manager for One-MHS, OneMHS Procurement & Supply Chain

Job  |  Services LLC - A57

Amazon installs a significant quantity of new buildings every year. The historical model has been to allow each integrator to use their own equipment, controls, subsystems, and methodologies. While that has allowed Amazon to be successful to this point, the variability between buildings has proven difficult to support and scale. One MHS’ charge is to build partnerships to focus on consistency and scalability across our network of the future.

We will be partnering with key suppliers to help them scale up their manufacturing capabilities to keep up with our needs, as well as refining their designs to drive innovation and operational uptime and better meet the specific needs of Amazon’s operational environment. In partnership with WWDE, OMHS will challenge the status quo on our Gen
14 AR sortables building by focusing on critical equipment, controls, and system implementation methods.

We are seeking a Procurement Category Manager (PCM) to join our One-MHS team & to partner with internal business owners and key stakeholders across One-MHS & partner organizations, to drive procurement and operational value for these MHE systems. This role leads the development and execution of capital sourcing strategies for equipment, components that are part of the overall MHE systems.

The PCM will drive efficiencies in procurement strategy and commercial pricing, enable engineering efficiencies through effective partnership with Amazon’s design teams, and support Amazon’s long-term business interests through partnership within One-MHS teams as well as other teams like GPO, Capital Planning, Project Management Organization (PMO), Worldwide Design Engineering (WWDE), Finance, Global Engineering Services (GES) Operations Engineering (Ops Eng.), and Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME).

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies for equipment & components that form the overall MHE system or sub-systems, ensuring alignment with One-MHS goals and objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing events, negotiate with suppliers, and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position for the procured equipment.
  • Manage internal and external relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, business units, and other procurement teams.
  • Collaborate with global and local teams to deploy and manage the implementation of defined strategies.
  • Influence suppliers’ roadmaps, design, processes, technology decisions, and strategies to align with Amazon’s procurement goals.
  • Lead complex and cross-functional projects to drive productivity and innovation within the category.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry best practices to inform category strategies and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain category-specific metrics and reporting to track performance, savings, and supplier compliance.

  • Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Knowledge of Amazon’s business operations and procurement practices.
