Network Specialist; Local​/On-site at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Nashville, TN

Job summary:

This role provides day‑to‑day support for Vanderbilt Health's wireless network, managing support tickets, resolving issues, assisting end users in connecting devices, maintaining equipment, performing coverage checks, and participating in on‑call rotation to ensure continuous service.

• Daily operational support of the wireless network, including troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
• Manage and work through Pegasus tickets and other support tickets.
• Collaborate with Senior Network Specialists and engineers on trouble tickets and escalations.
• Help end users connect approved devices (laptops, phones, tablets) to the secure wireless network.
• Maintain and set up wireless equipment and perform coverage checks across facilities.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for critical wireless services.

• Minimum 2 years of IT experience related to networking or IT support.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Network+ or Cisco Certified Technician (CCT) certification preferred.
• Strong aptitude to learn and grow within the role.

• Cable & Wiring Practices – basic proficiency for moderate difficulty applications.
• Voice and Data Moves – advanced expertise, ability to lead in high‑pressure situations.
• Network Design – fundamental awareness of networking concepts and major protocols.
• Network Troubleshooting – novice level, ability to identify, isolate, and resolve problems.
• Network Integration – novice level, practical application of moderate difficulty.
