Associate Data Specialist

Career Area:
Technology, Digital and Data. This position supports the Master Data Management & Data Governance team, part of the overall Data & AI Solutions team at Cat Financial, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.

This role focuses on global data management, including the Customer 360 data pipeline, resolution of misaligned data across data platforms, data quality across Cat Financial's global line units, and strategic projects that advance the data strategy such as standardizing contact roles, customer hierarchies, and adding new data domains.

• Analyzing requirements based on the understanding of conformed data models and ensuring solutions are implementable and maintainable.
• Determining data accuracies in large, diverse data sets.
• Researching, designing, and documenting data specifications at all points in the data life cycle.
• Understanding data structures and the software used to manage data.

• Value Realization
  :
  Knowledge of value realization methods; ability to plan, execute, monitor and manage business activities and resources to determine and achieve the actual value of a business initiative as estimated in an associated business case.
• Communicating Complex Concepts
  :
  Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
• Agile Development
  :
  Knowledge of agile methodologies and the agile development lifecycle; ability to utilize formal agile methodologies, disciplines, practices, and techniques for the delivery of new and enhanced applications.
• Database Design
  :
  Knowledge of database systems; ability to learn and improve a data model for designing an organization's database that runs effectively and efficiently for better business outcomes.
• Information Management
  :
  Knowledge of an organization's existing and planned Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology; ability to collect and manage information from different sources and distribute it to enhance operational efficiency.

• Coursework or work experience in reporting or analytics for business stakeholders.
• Proficiency with data tools, queries, and datasets used to deliver accurate, timely insights.
• Ability to manage recurring deliverables while supporting ad‑hoc requests and shifting priorities.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, and documentation.
• Self‑directed, reliable, and a curious learner.

• Coursework or work experience with exposure to PowerBI or other visualization tools (Tableau, Snowflake Streamlit, React, web visuals).
• Coursework or work experience with customer data management systems – core databases like Oracle or SAP, or customer relationship management systems like Salesforce.
• Prior experience with SQL queries, Snowflake data platforms or Cortex Code, Salesforce, Oracle, and similar ERP or CRM systems.

This position requires the successful candidate to work full time, five days per week in the Nashville main office. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Summary Pay Range: $74,124.00 - $. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
