Data Operations Associate, STR – Nashville, TN
STR, a division of CoStar Group, combines CoStar’s extensive properties database with STR’s global hospitality performance data to offer clients a unique view of local markets. The Data Operations Associate works on the STR Data Operations Team in Nashville, reporting to the Manager, Data Operations. Responsibilities include data loading, quality checks, report delivery, client support, and automation of data feeds.
Key Responsibilities- Load performance data from corporate submissions, automated feeds, and manual files.
- Perform data quality checks: research and accept or reject data.
- Contact data providers to resolve discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with properties, clients, and industry professionals regarding STR/CoStar policies.
- Notify research department of census-related issues (room supply, open dates, etc.).
- Work with internal stakeholders to monitor and improve participation levels.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly processing procedures.
- Respond to client requests via email promptly.
- Assist teams with pre‑processing checks on weekly and monthly data.
- Generate, check, and send selected reports to corporate clients and individual properties.
- Act as an internal point of contact for data‑related queries.
- Manage workflow requests and coordinate data delivery setups with clients.
- Stay knowledgeable of industry trends and news that may affect data.
- Support projects and automation initiatives as needed.
- Help clients automate data submissions from various vendors.
- Identify new opportunities for automated data transfer to STR.
- Support growth in data participation.
- Maintain and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly deliverables with high accuracy.
- Notify the team and business of delivery timeline impacts.
- Partner with internal teams (e.g., IT, Global Data Operations) to resolve delivery issues efficiently.
- Adjust and update report setups per client requests.
- Adhere to STR’s and CoStar’s data confidentiality standards and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, non‑for‑profit, in‑person college or university.
- Minimum of 1+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence in manipulating quantitative performance data.
- Experience working with large or disparate data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to establish strong working relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience handling urgent requests while maintaining project turnaround times.
- Detail‑oriented, with focus and strong time‑management skills.
- Positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to learn new methods.
- High level of organization and teamwork within an international environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, data, business management, or finance.
- Knowledge of STR data, products, and clients.
- Familiarity with hospitality technology (PMS, RMS, BI tools).
- Experience in the hotel/travel/tourism industry.
- Financial literacy, including P&L statements and related performance indicators.
- Experience with API integrations and SFTP data transfers.
