About the Role
We are looking for a skilled IT Operations Engineer to join our team and contribute to the effective management and optimization of our organization's IT environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving our IT systems and computer and hardware optimization with a focus on end-user support, maintenance tasks, automation efforts, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
End-User Support
- Provide timely and effective technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, and peripheral problems.
Security Implementation
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Play an active role in leading compliance and certification efforts for the company, including but not limited to SOC2 compliance, etc.
Process Automation & Optimization
- Evaluate, implement and automate onboarding/offboarding, software license management, and support processes.
Hardware and Software Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance on IT equipment and ensure proper functionality.
- Install, update, and patch software applications on end-user devices.
- Maintain, identify and implement cost-efficient solutions to current and future state of IT hardware and software, including device purchase, software licensure, and end of life devices to ensure some financial recovery of funds.
SaaS License and Vendor Management
- Build and maintain relationships with external vendors.
- Evaluate, maintain, and manage software licenses across the organization to ensure cost driven purchase decisions and accessibility of necessary licenses to employees.
Documentation
- Create, improve and maintain documentation for IT procedures, configurations and issues resolution.
- Lead efforts to build and manage documentation and records for all vendor related meetings, changes and inbound or outbound communications that could inform future decisions.
Technology Evaluation and Implementation
- Proactively stay informed of and recommend emerging technologies and assess their potential application within the organization.
- Ensure timely recommendations around upgrades and improvements needed to support hardware and software needs of the organization.
- Oversee and execute timely implementation of new technology, when applicable.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with different departments to understand IT needs and provide effective solutions.
- Communicate technical information to non-technical staff in a clear and understandable manner.
Documentation
- Create and maintain documentation for IT procedures, configurations, and issue resolutions.
- Keep documentation up-to-date with changes and improvements.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and assess their potential application within the organization.
- Make recommendations for technology upgrades and improvements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in IT support roles; experience preferred in remote-first software orgs, and with 100+ employees.
- Deep understanding of IT functions, including: user assistance across hardware and software troubleshooting, IT network and system maintenance, security and compliance implementation and monitoring.
- Stellar written and verbal communication skills that can support the needs of a diverse group of employees and stakeholders.
- High EQ: A demonstrated track record of building trust with both engineering leaders and individual contributors.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred, or a successful completion of a Coding and/ or an IT Bootcamp. Bash and/ or Python scripting experience highly desired.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+) are a plus.
- Nashville-based preferred, open to East Coast-based with willingness to travel (Must be authorized to work in the United States. XOi does not sponsor employment visas for this position.
Pay range and compensation package
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 – $105,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
