Mentor Physical Security Platform Architect
Mentors engineering teams and leads the architecture of scalable, resilient physical security platforms and applications on OCI, including access control, video management, credentialing, alarm monitoring, and edge-device integrations. Defines performance, availability, durability, recovery, and data-retention requirements; removes bottlenecks across real-time event, video, and telemetry pipelines; and designs fault-tolerant, in-service-upgradable systems with graceful degradation, throttling, failover, and offline continuity. Establishes SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, operational-readiness standards, and incident-response practices while directing resolution of complex production issues and RCAs.
Architects advanced identity, authorization, encryption, audit, and device-security controls, drives compliance and remediation, and delivers infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment strategies for safe provisioning, patching, upgrades, and rollback across cloud and edge environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and technical direction of large-scale physical security platforms on OCI, including access control, video management, credentialing, alarm monitoring, visitor management, and edge integrations.
- Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and in-service-upgradable systems that support global sites, real-time security events, and large device fleets.
- Define and drive performance, scalability, availability, durability, recovery, and data-retention requirements with product, security, facilities, compliance, and operations stakeholders.
- Establish SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, operational-readiness standards, and resilience mechanisms such as failover, throttling, load shedding, buffering, and offline continuity.
- Architect secure identity, authorization, encryption, audit, secrets-management, and device-communication controls across cloud, enterprise, and edge environments.
- Lead complex production investigations, incident response, root-cause analyses, and long-term reliability improvements.
- Drive infrastructure-as-code, automated deployment, patching, upgrade, certificate-rotation, disaster-recovery, and rollback strategies.
- Mentor engineers, influence cross-organizational technical decisions, and raise engineering standards across teams.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing and operating large-scale, distributed, cloud-native software platforms.
- Strong knowledge of system architecture, networking, data consistency, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance engineering.
- Experience building services using containers, orchestration platforms, APIs, event-driven architectures, databases, and messaging or streaming technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in cloud security, identity and access management, encryption, auditability, vulnerability remediation, and secure software delivery.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, configuration management, observability, and site reliability engineering practices.
- Proven ability to lead ambiguous, cross-functional technical initiatives and resolve complex production issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OCI services and architecture, particularly compute, networking, storage, Kubernetes, identity, monitoring, and security services.
- Experience developing or operating physical security systems such as access control, video management, credentialing, alarm monitoring, or visitor management.
- Knowledge of integrations with cameras, badge readers, controllers, sensors, edge gateways, and third-party security platforms.
- Familiarity with physical security protocols and standards, including ONVIF, OSDP, RTSP, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting globally distributed, business-critical, or safety-critical platforms with strict availability and recovery requirements.
- Knowledge of privacy, data residency, retention, and compliance requirements applicable to video, identity, and physical security data.
- Experience with formal verification, threat modeling, zero-trust architecture, or advanced reliability testing.
