Job Title: Assistant Inventory Manager
Reports To: Inventory Manager / AGM
Job Summary:
The Assistant Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing inventory planning and placement in alignment with business goals. This position ensures inventory accuracy, acquisition through sub-rentals or purchases, and inventory profitability and optimization. The role requires independent thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration with other departments to ensure efficient inventory management. This is full time, hourly position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Control:
- Maintain accurate inventory data within the ERP system.
- Coordinate inventory movement, loss, and breakage tracking.
- Conduct cycle counts and analyze results to improve accuracy.
- Assist in purchasing and re-sale analysis to determine inventory needs.
- Research and correct inventory discrepancies and errors.
- Oversee inbound equipment check-in and ERP data management.
- Manage inter-warehouse equipment flow for efficient distribution.
- Coordinate intercompany truck runs for inventory transfers.
- Procure and track departmental supply orders while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Overbooking and Sub-Rentals:
- Handle overbooking issues and determine solutions in collaboration with the Inventory Manager.
- Identify sub-rental needs, coordinate orders, and manage documentation.
- Management and Communication:
- Lead communication on inventory levels and processes across departments.
- Develop inventory strategies to support customer needs and business growth.
- Ensure succession planning by training backup personnel in key responsibilities.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Up to five years of relevant experience in inventory management or operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP systems (e.g., POR) preferred.
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and troubleshoot inventory issues.
Job Performance Standards:
- Maintain high accuracy in inventory tracking and data management.
- Ensure timely execution of inventory processes and purchase orders.
- Support operational efficiency by optimizing inventory strategies.
- Reduce loss and improve inventory control through proactive problem-solving.
- Provide clear and effective communication across departments.
- Successfully manage inventory reporting and data integrity.
- Warehouse setting with frequent collaboration across departments.
- Standing, lifting, and using inventory management tools as needed.
- May require occasional travel to multiple warehouse locations.
