Macdonald & Company has partnered with a privately held real estate investment and operating company to appoint a Director of Asset Management to oversee a diversified portfolio across the Southeast.
This is a senior leadership position within an entrepreneurial, vertically integrated platform that acquires, develops, owns, and operates real estate across multiple asset classes. The role will partner closely with ownership and senior leadership to drive portfolio performance, execute business plans, and support the company's continued growth strategy.
The portfolio currently consists of a mix of multifamily and retail assets, with an active acquisition pipeline and plans for continued expansion into new markets. The firm maintains an in-house operating platform and places significant emphasis on operational execution, property performance, and long-term value creation.
Responsibilities- Lead asset management strategy across a diversified real estate portfolio
- Develop and execute business plans designed to maximize asset value and investment returns
- Oversee portfolio performance, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and capital planning
- Partner with property management and operations teams to drive NOI growth and operational efficiencies
- Analyze leasing activity, occupancy trends, rent growth, and market fundamentals
- Present portfolio performance and strategic recommendations to ownership and senior stakeholders
- Support acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing efforts, and due diligence activities
- Monitor capital projects and value-add initiatives to ensure execution aligns with investment objectives
- Build and enhance reporting processes, asset‑level analytics, and portfolio management systems
- Assist in evaluating new investment opportunities and market expansion initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, Accounting, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in asset management, investments, portfolio management, acquisitions, or related real estate disciplines
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical capabilities
- Experience overseeing operating partners, property management teams, or asset‑level business plans
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically within a lean organization
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and ownership groups
- Multifamily, retail, or mixed‑sector experience preferred
