Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for an experienced Tool & Die Maker on 1st Shift
. Candidates should have extensive prior experience using conventional lathes, mills, and EDM equipment, and have a strong mechanical aptitude. This position involves a great deal of troubleshooting and the need for resolving issues quickly.
At Greer Stop Nut, we manufacture specialty threaded locking fasteners (a.k.a. nuts) used in the aerospace and nautical industries on items such as jets and submarines. The manufacturing process of these pieces are carefully monitored to ensure the highest level of quality is always ensured. Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with Production and Engineering staff on problem solving and research & development initiatives.
- Identify or analyze defective die or machine components and indicate the necessary corrective actions.
- Operate and perform setups of machines such as manual mills, grinders, lathes, EDMs, and polishing equipment to produce all required product types including complex tooling components.
- Fabricate, machine, and install various punches, dies, fixtures, etc. used on the assorted presses and tapping machines used in our manufacturing process.
- Perform preventive maintenance on dies, shop, and production equipment.
- Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Ability to develop or design specifications from general descriptions and draw sketch or print of part or die component to be fabricated.
- Ability to troubleshoot die issues
- Ability to build, test, and debug new dies.
- 5 or more years of conventional Tool & Die experience.
- High School diploma or GED is expected. Advanced Technical School Degree/Certifications preferred.
