Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on industrial maintenance within a manufacturing plant, with a strong emphasis on hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems up to 480V. The Maintenance Technician will perform electrical and mechanical repairs, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure reliable operation of extruder and feeder machines used in plastic pellet production.

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and repair on industrial equipment, including extruder and feeder machines used in plastic pellet manufacturing.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including 480V circuits, 3-phase motors, and 220V equipment.
• Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment controls.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment failures.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve control system issues.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and perform effective repairs to restore operation.
• Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to ensure safe, efficient equipment performance.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, including repairs, adjustments, and parts used.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Essential

Skills:

• Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably 13 years in a manufacturing or plant environment.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting.
• Strong electrical skills, including working with 480V systems, 3-phase motors, and 220V equipment.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for equipment controls.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting to diagnose control system issues.
• Mechanical aptitude for maintenance repair and equipment adjustments.
• Basic knowledge of extruders or similar industrial equipment.
• Preferred industrial maintenance degree or related technical education.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

• Industrial maintenance degree or formal technical training in electrical or mechanical maintenance is preferred.
• Experience in working with extruders or feeder machines is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently during long shifts.
• Ability to communicate clearly with team members and production staff regarding equipment status and repairs.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities.

Work Environment:

This role is based in a manufacturing plant that produces plastic pellets used for injection molding. The facility is not temperature controlled and can become hot or cold depending on the season, so candidates should be comfortable working in varying climate conditions. The environment is industrial, with active production equipment such as extruder and feeder machines and typical plant noise levels.

The position follows a 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM shift on a rotating schedule of 2 days on, 2 days off, followed by 3 days on, 3 days off, providing extended periods of time off within the rotation. The maintenance department is stable and well-established, with team members who have remained for many years, creating a collaborative and experienced work atmosphere.
