Trevecca Nazarene University is a Christian community providing education for leadership and service.

Position Summary

The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts of $25K and above for university funding priorities from alumni, the community and other stakeholders, and is a key member of the major gifts team in developing donor strategy. This is a regular full-time exempt position that reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Duties & Responsibilities

include, but not limited to the following

  • Develops individual donor strategies that lead to gifts that meet both university objectives and donor interests.
  • Conducts engagement and solicitation visits with donors, alumni, and businesses locally in Middle Tennessee and regionally.
  • Collaborates with Director of Alumni Services to engage and grow alumni giving.
  • Possesses the ability to confidently, yet humbly and respectfully, engage with and solicit major donors face to face and in other meaningful ways.
  • Participates in strategy formation for institutional funding priorities, including, but not limited to, capital projects, scholarships, endowments and Athletics.
  • Actively promotes and represents Trevecca in the Nashville community.
  • Documents and tracks donor and fundraising progress in Colleague, the CRM database.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Possess a Christian testimony and strong dedication to the university’s faith-based mission.
  • Solid understanding of resource development principles in nonprofit organizations.
  • Willingness to travel for visits with alumni and donors, including but not limited to the southeastern U.S.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Word and Excel, and strong analytical skills.
