Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU
Unit: 3rd Floor – Neuro Med/Surg

Requirements:
Active and in good standing TN RN license or active Compact RN license
Minimum 2+ years PCU experience

Certifications:

BLS, ACLS

Must Haves:
Positive attitude
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
Med/Surg experience
Ability to prioritize care and multitask

Skill with IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, NG tubes, and chest tubes

Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 20
Patient Ratios: 6:1

Staffing:
Tech support available day & night; unit secretary 7a–7p

Equipment: IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology

Documentation System:
Meditech

Scheduling:
Three 12-hr shifts per week; two weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
Floating:
Contract labor floats first; rotation used if multiple travelers on shift

Patient Experience Expectations:
Attentive and compassionate care, bedside shift report, strong patient/family communication, involvement in plan of care

ACS-Verified Level II Trauma Center
Certified Chest Pain Center

Dress Code:
Navy scrubs (top and bottom)
