This role will support our free standing emergency rooms associated with Centennial Medical Center.
Job Summary and QualificationsAs an Emergency Room Float Pool Nurse, you will support the care of patients in our emergency rooms, influence patient care, and participate in shaping the future of nursing through collaboration and involvement in councils and initiatives. You will perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, identify nursing problems, plan individualized care, and participate in performance improvement activities.
When acting in the charge nurse role, RNs are responsible for day‑to‑day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment: make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and skill; serve as role models and clinical resources for the staff; respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff, or patient issues.
Whatyou will do in this role:
- Assess plans and evaluate patient care needs and carry out physician orders.
- Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care planning team.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Two years of clinical nursing experience in an emergency room.
