Overview

Under general supervision, responsible for licensed practical nursing duties of average difficulty, including leading others in work and performing related work as required. Assigned to work in a hospital, clinic, institution, or home, leading the work of technical nursing staff. May work days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.

Qualifications
  • Currently licensed as a practical nurse in Tennessee or holds a privilege under the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Two years of licensed practical nursing experience.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license may be required.
  • Must provide criminal background check information.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the application of nursing techniques for patient care and treatment.
  • Advise subordinate staff in policies and procedures.
  • Perform BLS and CPR and other emergency responses.
  • Adhere to prescribed health care plan or protocol; take vital signs and administer medication.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on maintaining health, self‑care, and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Document assessments, care, education, orders, interventions, tests, and medication administration.
  • Discuss comprehensive health plans with staff to identify patient needs; provide education to employees.
  • Maintain current, secure inventory of health care supplies and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure medical equipment and work areas are clean, serviceable; report maintenance problems.
  • Communicate with internal and external entities.

Driver Standards
