Job SummaryApplies the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent information to the health care team, collaborates in establishing patient goals, and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Pursues professional growth through learning activities that meet Board of Nursing standards.
ShiftThe person hired will work three 12‑hour shifts per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (36 hours total), including some weekends. Two call shifts are required within each six‑week scheduling period.
Unit OverviewJoin the brand‑new Acute Surgical Care unit, a 31‑bed step‑down unit that will be staffed from the ground up. Nurses will provide step‑down level care to adult patients awaiting surgery or recovering post‑operatively in a collaborative, team‑oriented atmosphere. This is an inpatient bedside position.
Patient Population Includes- Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Patients
- Pre‑ and Post‑Operative Surgical Patients
- Trauma and Med‑Surg Overflow

Help open a new unit and shape a supportive team culture. - Day Shift Opportunity:
Three 12‑hour shifts per week (7 a.m.–7 p.m.), including some weekends. - Preferred Experience:
EGS, trauma, ED, or surgical floor experience is a plus. - Adaptable Environment:
Ideal for nurses who are flexible, motivated, and ready to grow.
- Collaborate in establishing the plan of care and coordinate/implement care delivery while anticipating patient needs across the continuum.
- Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to patient care to determine nursing diagnoses.
- Continuously evaluate patient progress toward goals using the nursing process and apply appropriate interventions.
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe, healthy environment.
- Additional duties may be assigned as the position evolves.
- Care Planning (Novice):
Ability to anticipate resource needs, set priorities, and schedule activities within direct responsibilities. - Nursing Patient Education (Novice):
Proficiency in providing patient education for moderate‑difficulty cases. - Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice):
Capability to assess patients, conduct primary care interviews and exams, identify problems, and engage the primary care team. - Evidence‑Based Practice (Novice):
Proficiency in searching for evidence to answer clinical questions, generally under guidance.
