• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Identify nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of each patient.
• Plan individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Provide care and coordinate participation that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement.
• When acting in a charge nurse role, ensure day‑to‑day activities support quality patient care, make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and staff skill, serve as a role model and clinical resource, and respond promptly to requests for information or follow‑up with physicians, staff or patients.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Use the nursing process to document all patient care and demonstrate critical thinking and technical skills.

• Degree from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (B.S. or A.S.).
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• Labor and Delivery experience highly preferred.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS required within 6 months.
• NRP required within 6 months.
• AWHONN basic, intermediate and advanced certification within one year.
• CPI Training & Certification required within 6 months.
• Current licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or Compact State.
