The Staff Nurse is involved in all medical aspects of program care and support of clients within the eating disorder treatment facility. They work directly with clients throughout the shift to provide emotional support, encouragement, empathy, and care. Staff nurses eat with clients, attend group sessions, process events and emotions, and provide general structure designed to help clients refrain from eating disorder thoughts and behaviors.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Perform client assessments as ordered
- Oversee medical issues and report to Nurse Practitioner
- Perform blood draws and report values to Nurse Practitioner
- Understand medical emergency policy and act as lead during events
- Complete all nursing duties during shift
- Facilitate necessary shift communications to supervisor
- Work 2‑3 major and minor holidays annually
- Communicate follow‑up needs to next shift nurse
- Ensure effective communication between lab, courier, and other medical offices and professionals according to company procedures
- Communicate information and concerns to therapists and treatment team
- Log client information in “Comm log”
- Attend all required trainings and meetings
- Work with treatment team to present one clear decision/voice/standard to clients
- Understand and follow all company policies, procedures and rules
- Follow all HIPAA and privacy laws, rules, and company expectations
- Build rapport and trust with clients while maintaining professional boundaries
- Use empathy, sensitivity, and genuineness at all times
Education & Experience
- Hold current RN licensure in Tennessee
- Appropriate nursing degree
- Active First Aid/CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross/American Heart Association)
- Documented proof of MMR and HEP B vaccination
