The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will serve on the acute care surgery team, collaborating with physicians to manage hospitalized patients and support high‑quality, evidence‑based medical services.
Job SummaryThe APP works in an adult hospital setting on the high‑volume orthopedic service line, providing inpatient care for orthopedic trauma and surgery patients. The role includes assessing, diagnosing, treating, and prescribing therapies for acute and chronic conditions, managing patient care plans, and ensuring timely documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and document a health history; perform a complete system‑focused or symptom‑specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary staff to provide primary, acute, and complex care; manage overall patient care and identify expected outcomes for diagnoses.
- Order, perform, interpret, and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures when indicated.
- Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions.
- Prescribe therapeutic interventions—including pharmacologic, non‑pharmacologic, and surgical—as needed to achieve expected outcomes.
- Utilize evidence‑based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
- Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations.
- Provide specialty‑specific consultation services within scope of practice.
- Facilitate patient transitions between and within health‑care settings, including admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
Demonstrate proficiency in the following advanced practice domains–Health Systems and Policy Management, Patient and Family‑Centered Care, Clinical Knowledge and Practice, Practice‑Based Scholarly Inquiry, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, and Professionalism. Apply ethical principles, cultural and spiritual preferences, and electronic health‑record documentation to deliver safe, patient‑centered care.
Required Certifications- Licensed Nurse Practitioner (Tennessee)
- Physician Assistant Certified (Tennessee)
- Registered Nurse (Tennessee)
Less than 1year of relevant work experience. Master’s degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant studies, or a related field is required.
