Position: Clinical Staff Leader, Mid Shift, Neuro/Epilepsy- VUH

Job Summary

The Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) is a direct supervisory role and a key member of the nursing leadership team. The CSL leads a cohort of staff, provides coaching and feedback, and actively participates in unit management, development of clinical practice, and quality improvement, ensuring optimal performance of the Neuro/Epilepsy unit.

Shift – Hours
  • Full-time mid shift – 12-hour shift lead on days and nights (admin hours 3:00 PM-11:00 PM).
  • Weekend shift lead – 12-hour shift on weekends within a 6-week schedule.
  • Two administrative days per week.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a cohort of nursing staff, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Develop and implement clinical practice standards and unit goals.
  • Facilitate education and training for staff on clinical standards and best practices.
  • Assign clinical duties based on patient care needs and staff competencies.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in unit scheduling, throughput, and resource planning.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and resolve operational problems.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and other clinical teams.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in a neurological or acute care setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, care planning, and education.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
