Position: *Premium Pay $75/hr* Registered Nurse, L&D, Night Shift, TempForce - VUH

Job Summary

Applies the nursing process to plan and manage care of complex patients in a comprehensive manner. Plans individual teaching plans for patients and families and demonstrates effective patient education to peers. Collaborates with the health care team to ensure a comprehensive continuum of care plan. Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills. Ensures evidence‑based care and monitors patient outcomes. Engages in learning activities to meet Board of Nursing standards.

Floats across entities to fulfill role requirements.

Job Type & Assignment

Temporary assignment, full‑time 36–40 hours per week covering shifts most needed by the unit. 13‑week assignments within a specific unit. May require weekend and holiday work. Fixed end date January 9, 2027.

Location

Vanderbilt University Hospital – Nashville, TN. Unit:
Labor & Delivery, Night shift (7p‑7a).

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse
  • Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program (or equivalent experience)
  • 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience (preferred 2+ years)
  • Licensure:
    Registered Nurse, BLS, ACLS, and PALS
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate to establish plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient needs across the continuum.
  • Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to patient care and determine nursing diagnoses.
  • Use nursing process to evaluate progress toward goals and apply interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employ strategies to promote health and a safe, healthy environment.
Core Capabilities
  • Plan care, anticipate resource needs, set priorities, schedule activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously while prioritizing work.
  • Adapt to changes in patient care and area needs with minimal disruption.
  • Provide nursing patient education and assessment; conduct interviews and physical examinations.
  • Search for evidence to answer clinical questions and work under direction to accomplish assignments.
