Position OverviewThe Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) is a direct supervisory role and a key member of the Nursing leadership team at the cardiovascular step‑down unit on 6 North, Vanderbilt University Hospital. The CSL leads a cohort of staff, participates in overall unit management, develops clinical practice, and ensures optimal performance through problem solving and coaching.
Key Responsibilities- Interact with and contribute to the professional development of the cohort and other staff as needed.
- Define standards for quality patient care.
- Develop, manage and evaluate the area based on team performance.
- Manage multiple projects with timelines, work plans and deliverables, aligning with the strategic plan and vision.
- Act as clinical leader and facilitate education for staff on clinical standards; provide guidance and coaching to subordinates and peers.
- Ensure clinical assignments are based on patient care needs and demonstrated staff competencies.
- Perform all general duties associated with the role as required.
Clinical Expertise (Intermediate):
Demonstrates mastery of patient assessment, treatment, care planning, education and evidence‑based practice.

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee. - Relevant Experience
:
At least 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in cardiovascular care. - Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field. - Licensure
:
Current RN license in Tennessee; other licenses accepted if transferable.
