Description:
The unit has 12 beds with a patient ratio of 1:2. Unit staffing includes RNs, a unit secretary, and OR techs. The equipment includes a documentation system. Scheduling requires three weekend shifts and one call shift for RNs. Two call shifts are required for techs. The unit has a floating policy that prioritizes travelers. Patient experience is focused on shared decision-making.
For RNs, required certifications are NRP, ACLS, BLS, and AWHONN Intermediate or CEFM. The dress code consists of scrubs in Ceil Blue, Navy Blue, or Gray. Procedures performed on the unit include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&Cs, cerclage, and epidural anesthesia. The unit provides care for laboring patients and recovers cesarean section patients. Additional skills such as tub labor are valued.
