Registered Nurse - Pediatric ER - PRN Nights

Job Summary

Plays a crucial role in providing immediate and specialized care to children facing acute illnesses or injuries in a dedicated pediatric emergency department located at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee. Quickly assesses the conditions of pediatric patients, prioritizes care based on severity, and implements life‑saving interventions.

• Provides family‑centered care.
• Quickly assesses patients to identify their needs.
• Works well under pressure.
• Works closely with board‑certified pediatric emergency room physicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and child‑life specialists to provide excellent care.
• Explains treatment plans and procedures to patients and their families, offering emotional support and reassurance.
• Maintains hospital and unit‑specific competencies.
• Collaborates with the pediatric acute‑care team to coordinate transition of care for an admitted patient.

Experience Level: At least 1 year of pediatric emergency experience preferred.

Position Requirements:
Completion of the following courses within 6 months of hire:

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
