Job Description
As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with the customer's clinical team to resolve venous access issues and facilitate the treatment objectives of the treating physician. You may work inside or outside the hospital setting depending on each individual referral, providing a unique career opportunity to observe different treatment protocols and patient challenges.
Responsibilities- Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance.
- Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation.
- Assist with the management of PICCs and vascular access devices.
- Provide a wide range of vascular access support services, including port access, line removal, declotting, and more.
- Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines, and other CVADs.
Consultants visit patients at various customer facilities and must be willing to travel. Full‑time scheduling includes three to four days per week, weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation. Part‑time (per diem) scheduling requires a minimum of four scheduled shifts per month, weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation.
Training and Experience Requirements- Ideal candidates are experienced in ultrasound‑guided IV (USGIV) placements and vascular access device (VAD) insertions.
- Training will be provided in some locations for candidates with recent, consistent USGIV placement experience.
- Priority is given to fully trained vascular access nurses, but additional training is available for those with strong USGIV skills.
- Registered Nurse with a current license.
- American Heart BLS Certification.
- Experience in VAD management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience placing ultrasound‑guided IVs (USGIVs).
- Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements.
- Valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites.
- Must possess a smartphone.
- Must have a strong passion for vascular access.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care RN experience.
- Experience placing PICCs, midlines, or other vascular access devices using ultrasound.
- Prior vascular access or PICC experience preferred.
Hourly Pay Range: $40 USD – $60 USD
