Anesthesiology

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist administers general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures. Performs anesthesia-related procedures at the discretion of and under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist. Evaluates patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulates and carries out an anesthesia care plan including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly.

Safely transports patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensures appropriate care during the postoperative period. Supervises, instructs, and counsels student nurse anesthetists to ensure patient safety. Interacts with staff and patients in a way that shows respect and consideration for the individual.

Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital, Department of Anesthesia is accepting application for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for opportunities opening as a result of our rapid growth. If you are a licensed CRNA or a student graduating within the next 9-12 months from your Nurse Anesthetist program, you are encouraged to apply online today.   The more than 300 CRNA's provide anesthesia for a wide range of surgeries including cardiac, pediatric, vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, plastics, radiologic, and special procedures. CRNAs administer general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical, obstetric, and diagnostic procedures.

• Excellent SRNA Clinical Affiliations:
  Vanderbilt's affiliation with top anesthesia education programs, including the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia (second largest nurse anesthesia program in the country!), Emory University, and Marion University. SRNA's support approximately 7,000 anesthetic cases annually, while on Vanderbilt clinical rotations.

• Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain license/certification within 90 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
