NICU Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care (CPNP‑AC)

Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN – This role is a 24‑hour shift position within the multidisciplinary neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. The incumbent will function as an intensivist, leading the day‑to‑day management of critically ill and convalescing infants from admission through discharge.

• Obtain and document a comprehensive health history for a neonate, perform system‑focused or symptom‑specific physical examinations, and develop assessment and plan of care.
• Provide neonatal health care services for critically ill and complex patients, managing patient care and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
• Order, perform, interpret, and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures as indicated.
• Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions in the neonatal population.
• Prescribe pharmacologic, non‑pharmacologic, and surgical therapeutic interventions required to achieve expected outcomes.
• Perform delivery room service and neonatal transport services, initiate referrals and consultations, and provide consultation services within scope of practice.
• Facilitate the patient’s transition between and within health‑care settings, including admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Additional duties may be assigned as required.

• Patient and Family‑Centered Care – Provide compassionate, effective care, manage diagnoses and treatments within scope, and integrate cultural, spiritual, and ethical principles into decision making.
• Health Systems and Policy Management – Engage in professional organizations and activities that influence advanced practice and population health outcomes.

• Certification – Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LIC) in Tennessee.
• Experience – Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Education – Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
