Registered Nurse – IMC​/PCU​/Stepdown

Imc/Pcu/Stepdown Registered Nurse

Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMC), or Stepdown units, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through skilled assessments and interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, compassionate healthcare.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans based on clinical data.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and responses to treatments using appropriate equipment.
• Administer medications, including drips such as insulin, heparin, and cardiac medications, following safety protocols.
• Perform procedural duties such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertions, and NG/dobhoff tube placements.
• Complete accurate documentation in the Meditech system, including patient progress and interventions.
• Collaborate with team members to provide hourly rounding during the day and every 2 hours at night, ensuring effective communication and patient comfort.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license and current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a critical care or stepdown setting.
• Proficient in EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips, and working with oxygen delivery systems like bipaps and high flow O2.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex patient issues.
• Skilled in peripheral IV insertions and managing invasive procedures.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including every other weekend, with self-scheduling capabilities.
