Responsibilities

Med Surg RNs provide bedside care for a diverse patient population and conduct individualized assessments to develop personalized care plans. They prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments. Key duties include:

• Preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications
• Recognizing and initiating alternative actions in response to adverse symptoms
• Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs as needed
