Description:
This position requires strong critical thinking skills. The unit has a total of 30 beds, with 22 in acute care and 8 in stepdown. The patient ratio is 6:1 on the acute care side and 4:1 on the neuro stepdown. Staffing includes 1 RN Charge overseeing the entire unit, 1-2 Techs, and a unit secretary. Type of equipment used includes vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, various drips for the acute care side, and Vapotherm, Bipap, Trachs, and titrating cardiac drips on the neuro stepdown.
Documentation is managed through a Meditech system. Weekend shifts are required, and experienced nurses can float after orientation. Patient experience standards include bedside shift report, personal connection, and daily huddles. Certifications required are BLS for acute care and BLS and ACLS for neuro stepdown. The dress code allows for black, any shade of blue or grey, and any color scrubs on Fridays.
