Job Summary: The Pediatric Cardiac Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist administers general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures. Performs anesthesia–related procedures under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist. Evaluates patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulates and implements an anesthesia care plan, monitors patient response, and modifies the plan as needed. Safely transports patients to and from anesthesia locations and manages postoperative care.
Supervises, instructs, and counsels student nurse anesthetists to ensure patient safety and professional development.
Signing Bonus: $50,000
Relocation Incentive: Up to $10,000 (taxable) within 45 days of hire, applicable only to candidates relocating from greater than 100 miles. Current or former VUMC staff who have worked for the organization within the past 12 months are excluded.

Hours:
Full-time with multiple shift options.
Experience Level: Less than 1 year (eligible new graduates and final‑semester students accepted).
Education: Master’s degree in Nursing with CRNA credential.
- Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical and obstetrical procedures.
- Evaluate patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulate and implement an anesthesia care plan.
- Monitor and record patient responses to anesthesia and adjust the plan accordingly.
- Transport patients to and from an anesthetizing location and ensure appropriate care during the postoperative period.
- Supervise, instruct, and counsel student nurse anesthetists to ensure patient safety.
- Interact with staff and patients with respect and consideration for individuals.
- Graduate of an accredited/approved CRNA program.
- New graduates accepted during the final semester of the program.
- TN Registered Nurse license and CRNA certification.
- Consideration may be given to candidates who can obtain license/certification within 90 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
- TN Registered Nurse and CRNA certification required.
- Eligibility for signing bonus requires no prior employment with VUMC within the last 12 months.
