CLINICAL RESOURCE NURSE Position

Purpose:

Provide consultation and oversight of the operation’s nursing departments.

Reports to:

Chief Clinical Officer

Required Qualifications
  • Prior experience in long-term care preferred but not required.
  • A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must have, as a minimum, one (3) year of experience with demonstrated success in a nursing position in a skilled nursing facility or other related health care facility.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
  • Knowledgeable of skilled nursing home regulations, procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluates the overall operations of the Nursing Services department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Interprets and communicates policies and procedures to nursing leadership, and monitors staff practices.
  • Audit daily or weekly management team meetings to evaluate census changes, resident changes in status, complaints or concerns.
  • May participate in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed.
  • Periodically audits various committees of the facility.
  • Evaluates the delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate staff coverage on the units, general cleanliness, and maintaining optimal resident functions.
  • Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team to identify and resolve issues and improve the quality of services.
  • Performs rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are being met.
  • Conducts observations of nursing care and in-service education to ensure nursing staff is competent in current knowledge and skills.
  • Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  • Monitors the infection control program in accordance to current infection control guidelines to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection.
  • Assists in the preparation of inspection surveys and conducts mock surveys, as indicated.
  • Participates in the facility’s plan of correction response to an inspection survey required for nursing allegations.
  • Communicates with residents, medical and nursing staff, family members, department heads and members of the interdisciplinary team to evaluate care and services.
  • Oversees resident incidents and concerns daily to identify any unusual occurrences and reports them promptly to the Administrator and/or state agency for appropriate action.
  • Assists in monitoring for allegations of potential abuse or neglect, or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Promotes safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness.
  • May provide direct nursing care, as necessary.
  • Evaluates the quality assessment and assurance (QA&A) program and quality assurance performance improvement (QAPI) activities of the facility in accordance with current state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Reviews key performance indicator outcomes to determine the need for action from leadership and/or management such as re-education or revisions in facility policies related to outcomes, regulatory compliance and/or customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a commitment to quality assessment and performance improvement.
