Specific
Following the safety rules in the lab and maintaining a safe working environment
Operating lab equipment and performing analyses according to the Operation Manuals, SOPs, Best Practices, and training
Performing proteomic sample preparation in support of discovery and translational studies, including:
Protein extraction and lysis, reduction and alkylation, and enzymatic (e.g., tryptic) digestion
Peptide cleanup and desalting (S-Trap, SP3, SPE) and protein/peptide quantification
Preparing buffers, reagents, and stock solutions, and verifying their composition
Preparing samples through LC-MS injection and assisting with data acquisition as instructed
Operating, programming, and maintaining automated liquid-handling and bead-based sample-preparation systems (e.g., King Fisher, Bravo) to support reproducible, plate-based, high-throughput proteomic processing
Recording results accurately in the ELN and contributing to data summaries and study documentation
Notifying the Lab Manager and/or Principal Investigator of any deviations from the study protocol/SOPs/Best Practices or unexpected processes preventing the proper completion of sample processing and documenting as required
Observing deadlines, producing timely results or communicating to management when deadlines cannot be accomplished
Performing assigned general lab tasks, including data logging, routine maintenance of equipment, and general housekeeping
Ordering reagents, parts and/or materials needed for the functioning of the Lab. Handling, inventorying and managing incoming materials and samples, waste and shipping of samples to outside parties when needed
Ensuring training files are properly maintained by keeping his/her CV current and for providing copies of certificates or documentation of training
Demonstrating an understanding of Best Practices and SOPs, and applying Good Laboratory Practice principles (21 CFR Part 58) where studies are conducted under regulatory requirements
Position Requirements
Education and experience
BS, or MS, or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with qualifying laboratory experience in degree program
Skills and abilities
A basic understanding of processes related to Bioanalysis including sample preparation, instrument / equipment operation and data processing and reporting
Experience with analysis of proteins and peptides by mass spectrometry, including protein-specific extraction, separation, and purification methods (e.g., in-solution or on-bead digestion, S-Trap, SP3, and C18/SPE peptide desalting)
Experience with, or aptitude to learn, automated sample-preparation platforms, such as the Thermo King Fisher (magnetic bead–based protein/peptide cleanup and SP3) and the Agilent Bravo / AssayMAP (automated liquid handling and cartridge-based peptide desalting)
Comfort working with plate-based, high-throughput workflows (e.g., 96-well processing) and large sample cohorts
An attitude for quality, an eye for detail, the ability to follow written instructions and work effectively with management to complete assigned tasks
Documentation discipline and the ability to follow SOPs and written protocols precisely; familiarity with GLP/GMP/GCP principles is a plus
Ability to use a computer and an electronic lab notebook (ELN) to record experimental detail, and to compile and maintain databases for records and inventory, utilizing the appropriate software
A working knowledge and awareness of general laboratory procedures
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and procedures
Desired:
Experience with software for analysis of mass spectrometry data

Physical Activity
Moderate physical activity This position will require frequent walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, carrying, heavy lifting (max. 50 lbs), reaching while standing, gripping and twisting hand movements, finger control and other general repetitive motions (for more than four [4] hours per day)
Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required
Ability to read and understand applicable materials
Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and calculator/computer
Able to read and interpret test results and instrument specifications
Working Conditions
