Job Description

The Department of Food and Animal Sciences, College of Agriculture, Tennessee State University ( TSU ) is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to work as a Research Postdoctoral Fellow in a USDA -funded project in food ingredient science, dietary fiber, and gut microbiome.
This is a one-year, grant-funded position which may be extended depending on the availability of funds.

  • Ph.D. in Food Science or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in designing and conducting microbiological, chemical, and animal experiments.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to work in multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires knowledge of food ingredient science, polysaccharide chemistry, dietary fiber, molecular microbiology, in vitro and in vivo evaluation of functional properties of food ingredients, gut microbiome and gut health, and analytical instrumentation is essential for this position. The position will be stationed at the TSU main campus and will involve research activities at other collaborating institutions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Biological Science or related disciplines. Proficiency in designing and conducting wet chemical and spectroscopic experiments involving inorganic and organic soil contaminants.
