This position is located in the Research & Development Service at Nashville VA Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The Health Science Specialist serves as research program manager and provides the link between veterans and highly innovative projects.

Basic Requirement:
  • Basic Education
    :
    Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT

Minimum Requirement:
  • Specialized Experience (GS-12): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

    Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: administering and coordinating clinical/allied health science research programs; applying research protocols, methods, and organizational and Federal regulatory requirements; coordinating multiple research studies and teams; providing guidance to investigators and research staff; managing research grants, budgets, and resources; monitoring research activities, data, and regulatory requirements; and identifying and resolving programmatic and operational issues to ensure effective and compliant research operations.
