Guest Security ​/ Support Specialist 2 - Outside Security

Monday - Thursday, 1:30 p.m.

- 12:00 a.m.

• Maintain order among guests and protect property, visitors, volunteers, and other guests within active zone rotation.
• Diligently monitor security cameras in the monitor room to observe activity on the closed circuit camera system and within the immediate vicinity of the Welcome Center, responding to handheld requests for assistance or other service calls, and telephone reception duties.
• Demonstrate good judgment, common sense, and follow directions from supervisors.
• Take charge and direct others in emergencies or other dangerous situations.
• Attend staff meetings as assigned by the Director.
• Abide by all Nashville Rescue Mission policies and procedures, giving priority to safety and security procedures.
• Exhibit professional appearance at all times by wearing clean jeans or khakis, Mission shirts, and security vests.
• Communicate via two‑way radio (walkie‑talkie) and/or telephone to a variety of first responders (Police, EMTs, and ambulance) as needed.
• Assist in compliance with short‑term guest parking permits.
• Walk or drive assigned external zones on predetermined schedules to maintain the security of the parking lot and Mission property/perimeter, responding promptly to requests to check on observed questionable activity.
• Keep exits and entrances clear and maintain lock‑down areas as specified.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work environment within the Guest Services work area.
• Align motives, values, and beliefs with Nashville Rescue Mission’s values.
• Work as a team player and recognize that actions directly impact the hospitable performance and reputation of Nashville Rescue Mission and NRM Statement of Faith.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

• Perform regular duties associated with guest database.
• Perform all other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor or management.

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Equivalent education or experience in job‑related activities may be substituted for education.
• Recognized correctional institution, and/or security guard certification and associated licensures, including but not limited to restraint and crowd control, will be a major plus.
• Have and maintain valid and current certifications for certain skills such as Crisis Prevention, first aid, CPR, and Narcan. Nashville Rescue Mission will provide certifications.
• Ability to qualify as a designated Mission vehicle driver under Nashville Rescue Mission’s insurance policy (preferred):
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • No more than two moving violations in a 3‑year period or more than one accident in a 1‑year period.
  • Proof of insurance on personal vehicle (current).
