HVAC Data Center Journeyman Mechanic

Join a team that is shaping the future of smart buildings. Johnson Controls is looking for experienced HVAC mechanics to join our commercial service team. This role involves working with cutting‑edge equipment to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of high‑capacity HVAC systems.

• Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.)
• Perform maintenance and replacements on mechanical systems
• Troubleshoot advanced systems, including centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon components
• Conduct mechanical shaft alignment and vibration analysis
• Install complete HVAC systems and supporting infrastructure
• Provide expert recommendations and quotes for system upgrades and repairs
• Collaborate with apprentices and other mechanics to share knowledge and ensure top‑tier service
• Travel 10–20% to support customer needs across the region
• Prioritize safety in every task

• Minimum 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience
• Universal EPA refrigerant certification
• Valid current driver’s license
• Proficiency in mechanical alignment and vibration diagnostics
• Clear communication skills and ability to document service actions
• Willingness to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices (UA)
• Self‑motivated, safety‑focused, and eager to learn
• Ability to pass a technical proficiency exam
• Acceptance of union membership within 365 days of employment (required for this bargaining unit position)
