- Assist in the repair and overhaul of refrigeration, heating, and ventilation equipment to meet customer needs efficiently, accurately, and on time.
- Perform repairs and overhauls of compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices to exceed customer expectations.
- Conduct general repairs on refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors, and electric motors.
- Provide preventive maintenance activities by diagnosing equipment malfunctions and operation deficiencies.
- Process job tickets and work orders to the necessary department in a timely manner.
- Support by picking up and delivering cases and installing cases.
- Drive company vehicle when required, ensuring safety.
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls for efficient operation.
- Test joints and connections for gas leaks using gauges or soap‑and‑water solution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completed coursework at an accredited vocational technical or trade school.
- 1–2 years of experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical.
- Passed Tech Skills Level2 with an 80% or better score.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record, capable of safe driving.
- Valid EPA certification.
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, ice machines, gas furnaces, and electrical.
- Ability to install cases and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Strong mechanical skills, good communication, and relationship‑building with customers and management.
- Ability to follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable State and Federal laws.
- Proficiency with typical business tools including E‑Mail, Word, and Excel.
- Pre‑employment background screening (criminal record check and MVR for driving positions) and drug testing required for all positions.
This position typically operates in convenience stores, grocery stores, food service and/or construction environments, often at heights from ladders and/or scissor lifts. Mechanical rooms may have elevated noise levels. The job involves exposure to extreme cold from refrigerants and high heat from brazing operations, outdoor work in inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and the potential for dust. Employees must use appropriate PPE and safe work practices.
The role is very active and requires excellent stamina to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Workers are regularly required to walk and stand for long periods, hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, use hands and fingers, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
