Crane Operator – SPMT

Role Summary

The Crane Operator will safely and efficiently operate cranes and other hoisting/construction equipment as directed by Blue Hat Crane or jobsite leadership. This position will be responsible for proper daily maintenance and inspections of equipment in their control, professional customer interaction and maintaining accurate records. In addition, the Crane Operator will work with other Blue Hat Crane employees to ensure the proper working order of all rental equipment, follow the JE Dunn Hoisting Policy Manual and work within the manufacturer’s suggested operational guidelines.

All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core
  • Operates equipment as directed in a safe and efficient manner, always in conjunction with the JE Dunn Hoisting Policy and manufacturer’s suggested operational guidelines.
  • Conducts daily equipment inspections and documents findings as directed per the company process.
  • Communicates any equipment deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Tests and inspects all equipment prior to usage to ensure quality, safety and equipment readiness.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and secure workspace, per company guidelines.
  • Accurately documents completed maintenance, repairs, and inspections on hoisting equipment per company processes.
  • Communicates timely to internal and external business partners by answering phone calls, responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
  • Assists in conducting field repairs on hoisting equipment on sites as needed.
  • Operates/drives in a safe and professional manner in line with company’s safety policy and following all Federal DOT and Safety regulations.
  • Capable of operating multiple types of hoisting equipment (i.e. Tower Cranes, Crawler Cranes, Rough Terrain Cranes, All Terrain Cranes, Rotating Telehandlers, etc.).
  • Experienced in mobilizing and demobilizing Mobile Cranes.
  • Provides training, advises and leads other operators and oilers on the same jobsite or within their geographical proximity.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to follow up on inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to identify common construction materials and equipment.
  • Capable of operating designated hoisting equipment.
  • Ability to read crane load charts – Advanced.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting activities.
  • Proficiency with critical lift plan procedures and execution.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent (Required).
  • Formal training related to specified hoisting equipment (Preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 3 + years mobile crane operating experience (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • May require periods of overnight travel.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Frequent activity:
    Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Kneeling, Carrying, Swinging, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling, Balancing.
  • Occasional activity:
    Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen.
