Field Technician II
The Field Technician II supports field testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power equipment in a hands-on, field-based role. You will work with low, medium, and high voltage electrical apparatus such as circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, grounding systems, instrument transformers, motors, and related equipment. This position requires regular travel, overtime, strong safety awareness, and a desire to grow within electrical testing and power systems, with a clear path toward NETA certification.
Responsibilities- Travel locally and regionally to customer sites to perform electrical testing and maintenance work on power distribution equipment.
- Assist with testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning, and maintaining electrical power equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, motors, PTs, CCVTs, CTs, and related apparatus.
- Work safely around low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of field environments.
- Use and learn specialized electrical testing equipment such as Ductor, Hi-Pot, power factor testing equipment, and ratio/saturation testing equipment.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Document test results, maintenance work, repairs, and field findings accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow safety policies and procedures and actively participate in job site safety meetings and activities.
- Identify potential hazards on job sites and communicate issues promptly to the crew lead or Sr technician.
- Interact professionally with customers while on site, representing the company with a high level of service and technical competence.
- Continue developing technical knowledge and skills with the goal of progressing toward NETA certification.
- 2+ years of experience in the electrical power, utility, industrial, electrical contractor, or related field environment.
- Hands-on experience working with electrical systems, electrical equipment, or power distribution equipment.
- Experience with electrical testing, commissioning, or maintenance activities.
- Comfort working in the field approximately 95% of the time, including travel and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work safely around low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following safety policies and procedures.
- NETA certification or experience that would be considered equivalent to NETA certification.
Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in developing technical knowledge and progressing through NETA certification levels.
- Experience in data center environments is a plus.
- Ability to use and learn electrical testing equipment such as Ductor, Hi-Pot, power factor testing equipment, and ratio/saturation testing equipment.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally to customer sites.
- Comfort with documenting work clearly and accurately in reports and field documentation.
This is a field-based role with approximately 95% of the time spent at customer sites, working around low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems. The position is ideally based in Nashville, Tennessee, but candidates located in Murfreesboro, Clarksville, or Cookeville, TN are also considered. The role involves local and regional travel, overtime, and hands-on work with electrical power equipment using specialized testing technologies such as Ductor, Hi-Pot, power factor testing equipment, and ratio/saturation testing equipment.
The company provides a supportive environment for professional growth, including 2–3 classes per year for NETA certification training and preparation, and structured pay increases and bonuses tied to passing NETA Level II, III, and IV.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.
