Job OverviewBax Homeworks is seeking a highly skilled Lead Painter & Drywall Specialist with broad residential remodeling experience to join our team in Nashville. While this role includes general remodeling tasks like carpentry and flooring, the primary focus is delivering flawless drywall installation, repair, level 4/5 finishing, and high-end interior/exterior painting. The ideal candidate takes exceptional pride in their craft, possesses elite attention to detail, and excels in transforming residential living spaces.
Key Responsibilities Primary Focus:High-End Painting & Drywall
Drywall Installation & Finishing: Hang, tape, mud, sand, and finish drywall across residential renovations; execute flawless level 4 and level 5 finishes, skim coating, seam blending, and custom texture matching.
Precision Painting: Execute high-end prep work (sanding, caulking, priming, caulking, patching) and apply paint/stain finishes to walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and custom cabinetry with exceptional accuracy using sprayers, rollers, and brushes.
Surface Repair: Diagnose and repair water damage, cracks, popping nails, structural seams, and aged drywall patches prior to paint application.
General Remodeling & ConstructionCarpentry & Trim Work: Install trim, baseboards, crown molding, door casings, and assist with cabinetry installation and light framing.
General Trades Support: Perform flooring installations, assist with tile work, fixture installs, and execute light demolition while maintaining a clean work environment.
Material Precision: Measure, cut, and install materials accurately with minimal waste using specialized hand and power tools.
Quality Control, Safety & Site ManagementCraftsmanship Standards: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets Bax Homeworks' high quality standards before project sign-off.
Safety Protocols: Adhere strictly to jobsite safety guidelines, including mask/respirator usage, dust containment strategies (zip-wall setups, air scrubbers), and proper PPE.
Jobsite Cleanliness: Keep client homes protected with adequate drop cloths, plastic sheeting, and daily jobsite sweep-downs.
QualificationsRequired Experience: 3+ years of professional experience with a primary focus on high-end residential painting and high-level drywall finishing (taping, mudding, texture matching, and skim coating).

Skills:
Solid background in general residential remodeling, including finish carpentry, basic tiling, flooring, and demolition.
Tool Proficiency: Skilled with drywall knives, hawks, trowels, sprayers (airless/HVLP), sanders, ladders, and standard carpentry power tools.
Detail-Oriented Eye: Exceptional ability to catch surface imperfections under directional lighting before applying final coats.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, stand/kneel for extended periods, and work comfortably from ladders and scaffolding.
Logistics: Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation to various job sites around the greater Nashville area, and clean work habits inside occupied homes.
Professional Demeanor: Strong communication, dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude when collaborating with project managers and homeowners.
Pay Range: $23.00 – $32.00 / hour (commensurate with experience and level of drywall/paint mastery)
Schedule: Full-time, 4-day workweek option available (Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
