Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, General Labor, Installation Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic

High School diploma or General Education Diploma is required.
One year of construction or utility experience involving the operation of material handling and heavy equipment, the repair of tools and equipment, or fabrication of metal materials is required.
Employees who receive a positive drug or alcohol test result within the past 12 months prior to posting will not certify for the job.
Employees who have less than a "2.5" rating overall job performance on their last performance appraisal will not certify for the job.
Employees who receive a disciplinary suspension within the past 12 months of posting will not certify for the job. The disciplinary action date is defined as the first day of suspension.
Employees who fail or did not take the most recent Safety Manual Test will not certify for any job that would be a promotion.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities- a. Assist in the repair of pneumatic, hydraulic and hand tools, small engines and power equipment.
- b. Assist in the transportation of heavy loads using equipment such as tractor and lowboy trailer, mobile cranes and other heavy equipment near energized equipment.
- c. Use tools and equipment such as metal brake, punch, lathes and shearing machine for metal fabrication under necessary direction.
- d. Learn to cut, weld, braze and solder metal using equipment such as torches, plasma cutters, and various types of welding equipment for metal fabrication.
- e. Splice wire cable and rope lines for winches.
- f. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, maps, and schematics in order to perform work.
- g. Complete training program for Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice including written material and/or on the job training and obtain necessary certifications.
- h. Maintain mechanical shop facilities.
- i. Perform work in a safe manner to protect employees, the public, and property.
The working environment of this job includes physical surroundings that are undesirable. There is regular or extreme exposure to multiple disagreeable elements or hazards. This job demands heavy physical effort. Frequently moves or lifts heavy objects (50 pounds or more). Requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as standing, walking, climbing, crouching or crawling in restricted spaces for extended periods.

The selection process for this position will involve behavioral interviews.
Must be able to pass a physical abilities test.
Subject to 24-hour call.
Special Licensing and CertificationMust have or be able to attain a commercial driver's license from state of residence in accordance with state law.
NOTE:
The current Minimum rate is $31.68 per hour, and the Maximum rate is $44.77 per hour.
