NASHVILLE ELECTRIC SERVICE NOTICE OF VACANCY LINEMAN APPRENTICE-ADVANCED LEVEL
(Current openingis in the Transmission & Distribution Operations Department)
1. Minimum Certification RequirementsHigh school diploma or General Education Diploma is required.
Two years of experience in overhead line construction, installation, maintenance, and/or restoration of an electric distribution system.
- Employees who receive a positive drug or alcohol test result within the past 12 months prior to posting will not certify for the job
- Employees who have less than a “2.5” overall job performance on their last performance appraisal will not certify for the job
- Employees who receive a disciplinary suspension within the past 12 months of posting will not certify for the job
The disciplinary action date is defined as the first day of suspension. - E mployees who fail or did not take the most recent Safety Manual Test will not certify for any job that would be a promotion
- a . Climb poles, towers or work from aerial equipment to construct or maintain the electric distribution system.
- b. Assist qualified crew members in the installation of energized or de-energized lines and poles while following proper training procedures.
- c. Install crossarms, transformers and other line-related materials or hardware.
- d. Assist qualified crew members in setting and removing poles, anchors, conduits, and foundations.
- e. Maintain and stock material as required.
- f. Operate trucks and other power equipment, including transport of poles.
- g. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, maps and schematics in order to perform work.
- h. Complete training program for Lineman Apprentice including written materials and/or on the job training.
- i. Routine expose to high and low voltage in performing job tasks.
- j. Perform work in a safe manner to protect employees, the public, and property.
The working environment of this job includes physical surroundings that are undesirable. There is regular or extreme exposure to multiple disagreeable elements or hazards. This job demands heavy physical effort. Frequently moves or lifts heavy objects (50 pounds or more). Requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as standing, walking, climbing, crouching or crawling in restricted spaces for extended periods of time.
4.Additional Requirements
Note:
The selection process for this position will involve behavioral interviews.
All candidates will be required to pass a physical abilities test.
Subject to 24-hour call.
5. Special Licensing and CertificationMust have or be able to attain a commercial driver’s license from state of residence in accordance with state law.
NOTEThe current Minimum rate is $42.93 per hour, and the Maximum rate is $51.03 per hour.
