CUI Telecommunications is looking for dependable, hardworking Drop Bury Technicians to join our growing field operations team. In this role, you’ll help connect homes and businesses by installing and burying underground telecommunications service lines safely, efficiently, and professionally.

This is a hands‑on, outdoor position ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, operating equipment, solving problems, and seeing the results of their work at the end of each day.

Telecommunications experience is preferred but not always required. If you have a strong work ethic, are comfortable working outdoors, and are willing to learn, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

As a Drop Bury Technician, you will:

  • Install and bury underground coaxial and fiber‑optic service drops from utility connection points to residential and commercial properties.
  • Review work orders, maps, utility markings, and job specifications before beginning work.
  • Identify the safest and most efficient path for underground cable placement.
  • Use hand tools and appropriate underground installation equipment to complete assigned work.
  • Properly place, route, secure, and protect telecommunications cable.
  • Perform basic restoration of lawns, landscaping, and other areas disturbed during installation.
  • Verify that required utility locates are completed before excavation begins.
  • Follow all
    811 utility locate requirements
    , company procedures, and applicable local regulations.
  • Identify and report damaged facilities, unsafe conditions, or obstacles that could impact installation.
  • Complete required documentation, work orders, photographs, and job‑closeout information accurately and on time.
  • Maintain assigned tools, equipment, materials, and vehicles in safe working condition.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, dispatch, and other field personnel.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality expectations while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Follow all CUI Telecommunications and client safety, quality, and operational standards.
What We’re Looking For

Successful Drop Bury Technicians are dependable, safety‑minded, and comfortable working in a physically demanding outdoor environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous telecommunications, underground construction, landscaping, utility, cable installation, or similar field experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned work efficiently.
  • Ability to read and understand basic maps, work orders, utility markings, and job specifications.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and operating job‑related equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended hours based on business and customer needs.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular physical activity in an outdoor field environment, including:

  • Walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and digging for extended periods.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tools, cable, equipment, and materials.
  • Working around uneven terrain, residential properties, roadways, and active utility areas.
  • Working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
